For Jay’s thingy :)
I am a pure Filipino. I was born at Jeddah, KSA. I grew up there as well hence, the culture and experiences are more like something I have gotten used to so what I’ll be sharing is what I’ve encountered when I moved in for college here in the Philippines. Two words, culture shock. I was used to living in a conservative country. So seeing women with all the shorts, exposed skin and unveiled hair are overwhelming to me. Plus the fact that men and women could be together along the public streets and you could talk to anyone you wish without being in trouble are all expected but still unfamiliar to me. I was slightly surprised by how stereotype the society here is. What I’ve noticed about most Filipinos are they never fail to catch up on what is “in”. Which I found quite unreasonable under certain circumstances like, just because this band is famous everyone is hovering about it already even though I could see no talent at the members at all or having to hate Justin Bieber just because most people say he’s gay. I’ve also noticed how the teenagers here, specifically the ones I’ve met in college, are so blunt and would do anything just to get what they want like sneak our of their dormitories just to go partying and a lot more. So yeah, to be fair, let’s get on the good side naman. I think what I like about Philippines is how good strangers treat you. I mean maybe I was just lucky for so far I haven’t experienced to be on a hold-up or something but for someone like me who is new here, I frequently ask questions on how to get into a certain place and whenever I ask people they smile like they’ve known you since way back and answer to your problem. I’ve also experienced being treated to a free ride at an fx before because I ran out of barya. When I first tried to commute I felt like I was going to die. God is good. For he gave me co-passengers who would openly entertain my asking for directions instead of taking advantage of me. Most people here are also friendly except that most would prefer if you were the first one to approach. I learned how to socialize better because of that. I started gaining confidence of myself on how to talk to other people because of how the environment is here in the Philippines. Despite the bad experiences, in fairness, I think this country isn’t that bad. :)
ANTOK NA ANTOK NA AKO. Kung ano na maisip ko yun na lang tinype ko =)) I hope this would do :)) Love you Pampkin! :)
